WebKnot

WebKnot is a content-management-system (CMS) that does it Binford-Style:
more power - less instructions.
It makes use of XML/XSLT to allow you to completely separate your Design from your contents. It surely is not a WYSIWYG editor. Profound knowledge of XSL is required to use this tool

It's features include:
  • complete freedom:
Write your own XSLTs to create your own design
  • image creation:
WebKnot has a built-in tool that creates navigation images for you

... to be honest: WebKnot is just a sophisticated frontend for an XSLT processor...

WebKnot was created because I have been looking for a CMS for maintaining this site.
As I was unable to find one that
a) wasn't web-based
b) didn't require some kind of SQL-Server
c) didn't use some "special unique easy-to-use" template format
d) was able to get by without using ridiculous amounts of badly written PHP scripts

I thought: "The heck - I can make one myself".
That exactly was when things started to get ugly...
